Clare Woods Academy Holds End of Summer School Project Fair |
Fair Gives Special Needs Students A Chance To Shine Bartlett, IL July 16, 2009Summer is usually a time for relaxing, but the students at Clare Woods Academy did not let any grass grow under their feet. Students at Clare Woods Academy were hard at work completing projects on topics that included Ancient Egypt, Gardening, Astronomy, Animals and Sports. Classes took part in various activities throughout the last five weeks to spotlight their themes. Students took field trips, completed science experiments, read books and used computer programs to create diagrams showing what they had learned. When the five week summer school session had come to an end, each student had a wealth of knowledge to share. The students invited their family and friends to a Project Fair on Thursday, July 16th. In addition to giving the students a chance to shine, public events also serve to showcase Clare Woods Academy, which is a valuable community resource. The school began its history under the name Bartlett Learning Center. The Bartlett Learning Center was opened by the Sisters of St. Joseph of The Third Order of St. Francis focusing on educating children with special needs. After forty years, Clare Woods Academy continues in its endeavors to be one of the top special education schools in the state. Clare Woods educates children and young adults beginning at the age of three through their twenty-second birthday. Students attending Clare Woods Academy live in more than 50 communities that are served by more than forty school districts.
